Serochat vs Intercom Fin
Fin is an AI agent inside a full helpdesk, priced per outcome. Serochat is a standalone agent on a flat monthly plan. The difference is mostly cost shape.
Intercom Fin is a trademark of its owner. Serochat is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a partner of Intercom Fin, and every claim below is sourced to their own published pages.
What kind of product Intercom Fin is
Intercom is a complete customer-service platform — inbox, ticketing, seats, reporting — and Fin is the AI agent inside it. Serochat is only the agent.
What each one costs
Intercom Fin
Seats at $29/month (Essential), $85/month (Advanced) and $132/month (Expert) — those are the annual-billing rates the page shows by default; the same seats billed monthly are $39, $99 and $139. Fin is charged on top at $0.99 per outcome on every plan, and can also run against an external helpdesk at $0.99 per outcome with no seats, subject to a minimum monthly commitment. A new-customer discount was running on Essential when we last read the page.

Serochat

Where they actually differ
Your bill is a different shape
Fin charges per outcome — Intercom counts one when the customer confirms the issue is resolved, or does not come back after Fin’s answer — so a busy month costs more than a quiet one, and a successful agent costs more than a poor one. That is defensible — you pay for outcomes — but it is hard to budget for on a small site, and it means a spike in traffic is also a spike in cost. Serochat charges a flat monthly price with a conversation allowance, and when the allowance runs out the agent keeps answering and we tell you rather than cutting it off.
How much product you are buying
Intercom is a full support platform, and Fin is one part of it. If you need a shared inbox, ticketing, SLAs and reporting for a support team, you are comparing a suite against a single tool, and the suite will win. If you have one or two people answering email and want the repetitive questions handled before they arrive, the suite is a lot of product to buy and run.
Whether the agent acts, or only answers
Fin can take actions. Its Procedures follow multi-step instructions and use data connectors to do real work in your systems — process a refund, update an order — and for a support team with those workflows, that is much of the point of buying it. Serochat’s agent cannot do any of that, on purpose: an agent with access to your systems has to be defended against being manipulated into misusing that access — prompt injection is the standard attack — and the surest defence is an agent with nothing to misuse. Ours answers from your documents or fetches a human, so a manipulated conversation ends in an answer, never a refund.
Time to first answer
Serochat is designed to be live in about ten minutes: connect a source, paste a line, done. Adopting a helpdesk is a project — migrating conversations, configuring workflows, training a team. That cost is worth paying if you need the helpdesk, and hard to justify if you only wanted the agent.
Which one you should pick
Pick Intercom Fin if…
Choose Intercom if you need a full helpdesk — shared inbox, ticketing, workflows and reporting for a support team — if you want the agent taking actions in your systems, which Fin does and Serochat deliberately does not — or if you are already running on Intercom, where adding Fin is far less work than adopting anything else.
Pick Serochat if…
Choose Serochat if you want the agent without the platform, and a bill you can predict a month ahead.
The honest way to settle it
Point both at your own help pages and ask each one a question your documents only half answer. The one that admits it, and shows you which page it read, is the one you can put in front of customers.
